Hello William, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Kashan Rug, dating back to the period between 1970-1988. This piece has a completely floral pattern with a central decoration. Central decoration is composed of a central medallion which is decorated with three different base colours, Dark Blue, Ivory and a Turquoise. The central medallion isalso floral and the Turquoise colour at the center is quite, valuable in pieces from this period. This colour was a sign of prestige since the early years of the 16th century. The paterns on your piece is characteristic to the Kashan region. The label on the back of the piece has a "88" writing in persian letters, which could indicae the 1988. Most probably the export date of the item. We can see the Turquoise colours also at the inner part of the semi-medallion on each corner, closer to borders. The piece's central base colour is red while the weavers used dark blue as the base on the borders. The piece is in good condition with visible ware in central areas due to use and age. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 12 Feet 8 Inches by 9 Feet 8 Inches Condition: The piece is in good condition with visible ware in central areas due to use and age.
