What does this mean?

Dear Trish,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a close-up image of the monogram at the bottom left of each plate?

Thanks,

Karine

Dear Trish,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

This appraisal is for one set of two aquatints after Francis Calcraft Turner (c. 1782-1846) who was a British painter of mainly sporting and equestrian subjects. Sadly, I wasn’t able to read the engraver’s monogram on the lower left of the picture. These two pictures are from a series of total 6 hunting plates, titled 'Bachelor's Hall', a humorous portrayal of bachelor fox hunters.

Condition:
Fine detail and original rich coloring, unfaded.
Good overall despite few scratches and dings observed on framing.

The estimate for these two works is based on comparables offered and sold at auction in the last five years. In many cases, pricing for similar items available on the primary (retail) market varies and is often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.

Best regards,

Karine
