What does this mean?

Good morning, Diana,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
There were many companies other than Tiffany that were making lampshades of leaded or slag glass. Most often there is a name somewhere on the rim - either upper or lower - to indicate the maker. Could be Loetz, Quezel, Handel, Dale Tiffany (not related to Louis Comfort Tiffany but makes excellent reproductions), etc.

There is often some variation in value on the maker - I can appraise this as an unattributed chandelier shade and will be happy to reconsider my value if you are able to find (and take a photograph to upload here) a maker's mark.

Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

An American brass and leaded glass chandelier
probably circa 1920-1930
Surmounted by a sloping turtleback tile top in yellow or orange above a molded brass rim affixed with four single-light lamps, the lower section with floral swags and medallions above a pointed base.
Diameter 78 inches, Length 35 inches, width 38 inches stained glass
PROVENANCE: inherited
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition, commensurate with age and use.
$400-600*
*Represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
