Hello Thomas, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Kashan Style Rug made in Pakistan. The piece dates back to the period from 1970 to 1985. The piece is classically deorated with motif and patterns of traditional Kshan Rugs of Persia. But in colour palette the piece reflects a more Pakistani approach to the rug. This is usual to Pakistani and Indian rugs, they do reflect the original patterns with more vibrant and contrast colours. The piece was knotted wool on cotton. The piece was centrally decorated with a central medallion shaped florally with pale ice-white tones. The piece's central area was knotted on a dark blue base while the borders were decorated on a Brick toned base. These were piece made for solely export purposes. The quality can be observed as average. The knot density of the piece appears to be average to high and therefore the motifs of the piece were rendered clearly. The piece is in good condition without significant problems. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 235 Centimeters by 345 Centimeters Condition: The piece is in good condition without significant problems. Provenance: Purchased in Canada in 1980's. Heavily decorated by traditional Kashan patterns. 1000-1600$. Please don’t hesitate to reach us again for more online appraisals on your precious items, thank you for choosing Mearto.
