Late 20th century. Ji Gong (濟公) or the Mad Monk, was a Buddhist monk and legendary folk hero that lived in Southern China during the Song Dynasty. He is in good condition and the figure is quite eye-catching as well as being a conversational piece. Signed/hallmarked on the underside by the artist: Liao Hongbiao. His art is an integration of art and crafts (form, meaning and spirit), three-dimensional space and the art of Flambé glaze (clay, glaze and fire), and he makes use of professional techniques (such as expression of the composition, expression of the structure and expression of the sculpture texture) to demonstrate the inner depth and broadness of a work.
