Hi Richard, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I think I've got the piece count correct but please let me now if I'm off in any way so I can amend this as appropriate. There are a lot of Japanese-export tea and coffee sets on the market but collectors prefer ones that are marked with the maker's names or marks; yours does not have that. In addition, because the decoration varies, it looks like this is a combination of at least two different sets. Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: A vintage 21-piece Japanese export assembled parcel gilt painted porcelain dessert set made for the European market, mid 20th Century most with red and green foliate decoration on a white ground with a gilt line border, marked MADE IN JAPAN to the bottom. Comprising: 8 cups with 8 saucers with foliate decoration 1 oval dessert platter with foliate decoration 1 tea pot with dot and swag decoration 1 cream pitcher with dot and swag decoration 1 sugar bowl with dot and swag decoration 1 associated (undecorated) cream pitcher CONDITION: with some use wear, including minor chips from age and use. PROVENANCE: inherited $40-60 for the set* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
