Hello Chris, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Indian Contemporary Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1990 to 2000’s. The piece is produced commercially for export purposes. Since Morocco is considered somewhat “orient” but their hand knotting tradition is not very wide and the Berber carpets doesn’t match the “Oriental Rug” idea in the average tourist’s mind, they import these pieces from India and Pakistan. The piece is labeled as a Kashan in style but it doesn’t really share much with Kashan Rugs. The piece is centrally decorated with a central medallion and only it’s borders were decorated with simplified Kashan Patterns. The piece appears to be knotted on cotton with a synthetic wool mixture. The piece appears to be in good condition without any visible problems. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 5 Feet 6 Inches Long 3 Feet 1 Inches Wide Condition: The piece appears to be in good condition without any visible problems. Provenance: Purchased from a Bazaar in Morocco. Heavily decorated by Contemporary Kashan-Like patterns. 150-300$. Please don’t hesitate to reach us again for more online appraisals on your precious items, thank you for choosing Mearto.
