The reference to Retail auctions is a group of auction houses that keep changing their names, changing their precise locations, mostly located in NYC, Texas, Nevada, and southern California. I believe that since they pass so many of their watches at auction and the estimates are so very high, they are partly supported by the Swiss watch industry. For instance, see your watch in a Beverly Hills auction house where it went unsold: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/124372267_iwc-portofino-day-date-chronograph (passed in 2022 with an estimate $10,500 -$13,125) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ~https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/124570604_iwc-ref-iw391007-portofino-chronograph-day-date (In fair condition it sold at auction for $4050, likely the same watch offered just below on chrono24) ~https://www.chrono24.com/iwc/iwc-iwc-ref-iw391007-portofino-chronograph-day-date--id21651192.htm (Semi-retail price from Chrono-24 dealers for a watch in fair condition is offered at $4250.) ~https://catalog.antiquorum.swiss/en/lots/iwc-ref-iw391001-portofino-lot-335-49?browse_all=1&page=1&q=IWC+portofino+chronograph (Similar watch the model 391001 with slightly different movement sold at auction for 4420 Euros in 2021 = $4856) ~https://www.barnebys.com/realized-prices/lot/klockor-iwc-Vl8lbzphoo (Ref. 391008 with black dial sold for $3267 in 2021) ~https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/109015022_authentic-iwc-portofino-chronograph-iw391007-automatic (Sold in 2021 for $5500 at a retail type auction) ~https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/124821483_iwc-portofino-chronograph-automatic-silver-dial-men-s-watch-iw391007 (Sold at a retail auction, Bidhaus in NYC, with estimate of $8000-$10000, sold in 2022 for $6500.) ~https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/122968451_iwc-portofino-chronograph-iw391007-self-winding (Sold for $4800 in very good condition in 2022) ~https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/122118215_iwc-portofino-chronograph-iw391007-self-winding (Sold for $4800 in 2022) ~https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/121522483_iwc-ref-iw391007-portofino-chronograph-day-date (Again this one is listed in fair condition, sold for $3800 at a retail type auction house in NYC in 2022) PPRICING: Your watch has been kept in a state of fine preservation and that has to be acknowledged in its fair market price, since it is like new, despite being seven years old. I think if offered on the open market today the fair market value would fall into the $5000-$5500 range with a retail price of about $8000.Thank you for choosing mearto.com for your appraisal. My best, David
