Hello Jenny, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Rug made in Mosul Style. The piece dates back to the period from 1980 to 2000. Mosul is originally a city located in Iraq but the weaving tradition and the style was adopted on this piece with Persian interpretations. In this design sense, the piece is quite contemporary. The piece was centrally decorated with a central medallion encircled with a hexagonal shape and lanterns that are stylised as continuations of the hexagonal decorative style. The medallion is floral. The borders of the piece are decorated with abundance symbols. The central area was decorated on a pale mystic purple base while the borders were decorated on a brighter base of the same colour. The piece is in good condition without visible problems, signs of use and age. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 6.6 Feet by 4.3 Feet Condition: The piece is in good condition without visible problems, signs of use and age. Provenance: Hagerstown Maryland. The current owner's office closed and they were permitted to buy office items/decor. The company has had an office in Hagerstown for 25 years. 150-300$.
