Hand-Carved Manzanita Oak Elephant Statue
08 September 2023
Description

It was made by an unknown carver and antique wood-carving artist. It's in moderate condition, of manzanita oak and measures about 24" x 20" x 20". It is heavy, not weighed but I estimate that it felt between 60-100lbs

Hi Delia,
Yes it is one main piece, the small tail piece may be separately attached (I'm not sure), but the general piece is all one log of wood, it was from a bark-less tree, made by a wood sculptor in California who claimed it to be Manzanita, we aren't too sure what to do about it because it was inherited so we don't have a lot of information. I can ask my cousin to take a picture from different angles, thank you!

Thank you!
