Hello! Thank you for choosing Mearto. Considering this piece, it is: A beautiful green glazed pottery figurine of a rooster, following the Han Dynasty style. These types of figurine were very popular during that period and were usually molded in a reddish or greenish terracotta. ven in its simplicity, it is clear the artist’s intent to provide the statuette with a naturalistic appearance. This rooster is mingqi, 'spirit goods' belonging to the burial rituals in the Chinese Han Dynasty.H.C. Clydesdale, "The Vibrant Role of Mingqi in Early Chinese Burials", Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York 2000 Fair condition - broken and missing parts. Traces of the original pigments visible to the surface, however mostly has now disappeared.
