Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: A pair of vintage Regency style mahogany caned open armchairs In the English taste, late 19th Century Each with oval back with molded rim, shield-form seat with serpentine front rail, curved molded arms raised on fluted supports, all on four molded fluted tapering legs. Overall height 39 inches; width of seat 23 inches, depth of seat 19 1/2 inches CONDITION: not examined in person but condition and wear appears to be commensurate with age and use. Patina is warm and mellow and appears to be original, as does the caning. PROVENANCE: gift from a neighbor $500-800 for the pair* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
