Hello Ramiro, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, materials and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Made Ancient Pre-Columbian "Tumbaga" of the Tairona Culture. This piece likely dates back to the period between 400-1000 AD. The authenticity should be tested with physical methods and is not guaranteed. Nowaday's Santa Marta was a center of the Tairona people. This piece was made of a copper and gold alloy. The piece was made with "Traditional Lost Casting" method. The piece depicts a god figure decorated and guarded in a way by two Toucan Birds. Toucan Birds are seen as holy figures which is mostly patronised by gods themselves. Historians belives that this might be a result of their odd physical appereance and their rare visibility at the time. The piece depicts the god's face as in a very proud moment looking upwards. This was a ceremonial piece. The god is also seen as wearing a large necklace as well as some circular decoration to his belly and the base of the piece. The piece appears to be in good condition with obivous signes of age. The authenticity of the piece needs to be further investigated in person.
