What does this mean?

Dear Joseph,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.

The presented object appears to be a probably British saw handle cap and ball pistol with a length of 16 inches. It has an octagonal barrel, engravings on the lockplate, and also gold or brass inlays. On the barrel, London is readable with inlay work but there are no proof or acceptance stamps of how they were common and mandatory in Great Britain. It was probably made in the first half of the 19th century.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 300 to 600 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
George

Hello Joseph,

Thank you for your email. Usually, they are on the lockplate or on the barrel.

With kind regards,
George

I’ve gone over this with a magnifying glass and don’t see any markings

I’d like for you to sell it. How do I go about doing that

Dear Joseph,

Thank you for your inquiry about consigning through Mearto. When you submitted your item to us for appraisal, did you select "yes" or "maybe" when you were asked if it was for sale? If so, your item automatically entered a database, which is accessed by a number of regional and international auction houses actively seeking new items for consignment. If there is any interest, they will contact you directly through our platform. You will receive an email notification if one of them makes an inquiry. If you selected "no" when asked if the item was for sale, you can change this so that your item enters the database. Just visit "my collection," select the item, then click the "edit item" button at the top of the page. On the resulting page, click "yes" or "maybe" to answer the question: "Are you looking to sell this item?" Good luck and if there's anything else I can do to help, please just let me know!

With kind regards,
George
