I’m traveling today, so my wife measured for me. The dimensions are probably +/- .5”.

Note, one if the corner metal brackets is missing. Imagine it can be replaced if I get the trunk refurbished.

Dear Mark,

Thank you for the additional information. This is a steamer trunk made by the famous French company Goyard. The company was established in 1853 in Paris and is still producing products for the luxury market like handbags. Steamer trunks were originally build to store the clothes during the long ship voyages in the 19th and first half of the 20th century. This steamer trunk was made by Goyard in the beginning of the 19th centry. It is in a good to middle condition and shows some little damages. There is still a market for steamer trunks, esoecially for trunks whcih were made by namous companies like Louis Vuitton or Goyard. This pieces are quite often sold in auctions and outreach the estimate prices. An estimation for this beautiful steamer trunk would be from 4.000 to 8.000 USD. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Sometimes wardrobe trunks with similar dimensions are sold over 10.000 USD. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.

Best regards,
Georg

Thank you Georg. What is the estimated range if this trunk is fully restored, etc?

George Jul 11, 15:47 UTC

Dear Mark,

I named you a price area which is quite wide. There are trunks for this prices sold which were in a worse condition and smaller than yours. I hope it was not stored in a wet basement and has no smell. The interesting thing about your steamer trunk is, that these big sizes are not that much on the market, so the condition does not play an important role. Also, this evacuates an unpredictable bidding behavior which leads to high hammer prices.

Best regards,
Georg

Ok, thanks. It’s been an AC’d environment, and no smell.
