Dual use gun cabinet / display case
22 December 2021
Description

This is a wooden dual use gun cabinet / display case. In its entirety it stands 74 inches tall x 28 inches wide x 16.5 inches deep. It was originally a gun cabinet able to hold 6 rifles. It was later modified so one could add up to four shelves as an option instead of using it as a gun cabinet. The four original glass shelves (10.5inches x 22.5 inches) are included, but for the photo we only placed two of the shelves. They key is included and both locks work. The upper portion is the gun cabinet and there is a footlocker with a half shelf at the bottom of cabinet. I'm uncertain as to which type of wood it is. It is in very good / good condition overall. There are a couple of small chips to the wood at the bottom of the base. ADDITIONAL DIMENSIONS: Upper portion exterior: 54 x 25 inches x 12 inches. Upper portion interior: 54 x 23 inches. Footlocker interior: 15 x 13 x 25 inches.

Provenance

A relative purchased this as a gun cabinet circa 1950 (likely it was new) and later had it remodeled to include the shelves.

Hi Delia,

Thanks for getting back to me. I added a picture of the only writing on the back of the piece. It appears to read "232 Salem."

Merry Christmas!

Roger

Thanks, Roger, and Happy Holidays to you!
That probably refers to a model number/pattern; I've included it in the appraisal but it doesn't change the value.
