Hello Mark, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, motifs and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Painted Chinese Porcelain Moon Vase. Dating back to the period between 1960-1980. Although it shows many similarities with antique pieces this is a modern interpretation of an Imperial Vase. Four clawed dragons were motifs usually used for the sons of Emperors. Especially the heirs to the throne. We can understand that your piece is a modern one due to sveral aspects, firstly, it's base colour is wrong for the previous centuries. These elegant piece were almost never finished with terracota colours. Secondly, the foot and rim are not proper for the period. The proportions and decoration is considerably different. Lastly, the detailings of the motifs are very different, we can especially detcet this on the had of the dragon, this was not the traditional style in the previous centuries. The piece appears to be unmarked. The sizes are large for a moonflask, although it does not have an antique value it certainly has a decorative value. In good condition without visible faults. Entirely hand knotted. Dimensions: 24 Inches Tall and 20 Inches Wide Condition: In good condition without visible faults. Provenance: Owned by the customer's father for the past 50 years and inherited upon father's death in 2020. 200-300$.
