This was purchased in Zimbabwe at his atelier. He was in the process of painting it while we were there. It is an Oil Painting and measures about 45 x 28 in. Framed. It is a rare night scene and is shown in his African Seasons Book printed in 1993. I think it must be one of his earlier paintings because I think we purchased it in late 1960's.

Purchased in Zimbabwe at home?atelier of Craig Bone. We are only owners.

What does this mean?

The appraised work appears to be an oil on canvas painting executed by Craig Bone (Zimbabwean, b. 1955). Bone is a painter of large game animals and other wildlife. He was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia (present-day Zimbabwe) and studied at Natal University in South Africa. The artist often paints African wildlife in their natural habitat employing a hyper realistic style that is meticulous in detail. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
