Dear Maurice, Thank you for this important information and help. The presented object appears to be a Confederate 1863 dated CS Richmond carabine with a percussion lock. In November 1862 Richmond Armory began the production of a cavalry carbine by reducing barrel length to 25 inches (64 cm) and overall length to 41 inches which fits with the overall length of this piece. This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 3.000 to 6.000 USD. This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary. With kind regards, Georg
