This mother of pearl colour of glaze makes the spectator to think that this piece is made of some kind of glass but it is actually a below average quality porcelain, this is the reason of it's likely thin construction. We also do see some bubles on the porcelain which happens during the firing process, this is another indication that thi is a porcelain Chinese Ginger Jar.
