Hi Peter, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. This bronze sculpture was made posthumously, after Remington died (1861-1909). While it's not technically called a "fake," it is not nearly as valuable as those bronze sculptures made under Remington's auspices while he was still alive. However, there is still a market for these posthumous works, with this model currently selling at or near the value I've appraised it at. Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: After Frederic Sackrider Remington (American, 1861-1909) "The Cheyenne" inscribed "Copyright Frederic Remington" on a granite base 22 inches tall, 26 inches long, 8 1/2 nches wide PROVENANCE: acquired from a private collection CONDITION:client reports this to be in good condition $1,000-1,500* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
