The appraised work is a color silkscreen executed by American artist Patrick Nagel (1945-1984) titled “Carol.” The print depicts a confident female figure who wears sunglasses and stylish accessories, who’s focused on something outside the compositional frame. Nagel was well-known for his distinctive illustrations, which typically employed a graphic, highly stylized aesthetic and were often featured in Playboy magazine. He received a BFA from California State University and began working as an artist and illustrator in 1976, gaining commissions from Playboy and other publications. The appraised work's size, composition, medium and condition (based on images provided), as well as the artist's current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
