This sword belonged to my Great Grand-Father Charles M. Vining and has been passed down from generation to generation. The inscription on the sword reads, "Presented to Lieut. C.M. Vining by 3rd Reg Mo. by the Union Nations Bank of Kansas City at outbreak of Spanish American War, Apr 21 -1898" It was his ceremonial sword from when he served in the Spanish American Sword, he was a 1st Lieutenant. He also received a ceremonial gun, both were featured on Season 18 of the Antique Road Show in Tulsa. The sword listed here was appraised at $3,000 at that time.

This sword was given as an present in 1898 to Lieut. C.M. Vining by 3rd Reg Mo. by the Union Nations Bank of Kansas City. This sword has gilded parts and is made of a higher quality than the usual M1860 officer's swords. An inscription proves the provenance of C.M. Vining. This piece is in very good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 2.000 to 4.000 USD.
