Hello Andrea, I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, material and the casting quality, I concluded that this is an Antique Bronze Casted Chinese Horse Sculpture, dating back to the period between mid to late 19th century. The head and the feet of the piece confirms it's Chinese origin and is characteristic to the pieces from this period. This period covered the late Qing Dynasty period and the Bronze Sculpting was increasing in popularity. The piece likely has a light brown patina to it's bronze surface but due to age and conservation standarts the patina significantly wore off. We can detect several rusty areas as usual for a bronze piece. The ears of the horse is obviously in Chinese style, quite noticably different from the Western copies. Proportions of the piece is accurate and casting was likely done by a senior master of Bronze. The horse was depicted in a running position. The piece has a base made of wood, which is seperable from the bronze body. The piece is in good condition with small signes of age and some ware to it's patina. Bronze Casted and Wooden Base. Dimensions: 6 1/2 Inches Long by 1 Inches Wide, Base is 2 Inches Wide by 5 Inches Long. Condition: The piece is in good condition with small signes of age and some ware to it's patina.
