The word swastika originates from the Sanskrit language and is composed of two separate words: Su meaning “good,” Asti “to exist” and “ka” as a suffix. As per Sanskrit grammar, the words Su and Asti become Swasti. The literal meaning of the term swastika is “let good prevail.” The Buddha is depicted seated on a throne with multiple protective symbols crowned by a dragon.
