What does this mean?

Hello Theresa,

I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,

Considering the photographs, overall pattern, materials used and the composition, I concluded that this is a Bronze Six Armed Crowned French Chandelier. The piece dates back to the period between 1900-1920. The classical features of a French piece are visible on decorational elements. The decorative patterns are inspired from classical crown shapes. The center is a classical leaves decor crown which acts as the center of the decoration. The piece has six arms which are also shaped as crowns and surrounded by fabric looking decorations. Each arms has five individual lights on them. As suggested by a previous owner, the electrical infrastructure of the piece might been integrated after the original production, possibly for candles. Although the Electrical infrastructure came to European palaces in late mid 19th century it was not applied in most and to the most of the upper class homes till the end of the early 20th century. The embossed decoration on the bronze are mostly floral. The piece has a crystal decoration on each part as hangings, usually this classical type was heavily used in mid century. The piece is in good condition without faults.

Entirely hand made, bronze casted.

Dimensions: 3 Feet by 3 Feet

Condition: The piece is in good condition without faults.

Provenance: Previous owner was a WW1 veteran who served in France during the brief invasion of Germany in France and brought this piece back as gift to his wife.

Heavily decorated by traditional French Ornament patterns.

2000-3000$.

This tells me nothing other than what I told you. It is the same description just in different verbiage. Please tell me where I can find the signature of the Artisian, or who made the piece. Can you give me information on the piece? You gave me no information at all.

Dear Theresa, chandeliers are rarely signed and since you haven’t provided any signature it is impossible to know the artist or the maker. It is from early 20th century and reflects the design of the time rather than a design of a certain artist, therefore it is not possible to indicate a maker. So the information you’re asking is not possible to obtain from these pictures or the provided provenance. If you can spot a makers mark or a signature on the pieces, we can enhance the evaluation but otherwise it is impossible to detect the artist. If you have any further question please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks.
