A nice framed landscape painting. It has a bunch of waves splashing on a beach and rocks at dusk. The painting itself is 47x23 and the frame around it measures 50x27. It looks old, I don’t think it’s on canvas, it’s more of a hardboard, I don’t know if Gutknecht used hardboard.

Framed work size: 30 x 42 inches. Sight : 24 x 36 inches. It is in good condition overall with the exception of few visible scratches over the painting. Anton Gutknecht (1907-1988) is a German and American artist. He mainly focused as an artist on Californian scenes such as the seascape you have inherited. His paintings have been printed and published numerous times. The estimation highlighted in red above is based on comparables offered and sold at auction in the last five years. The subject work’s size, the composition, condition (based on photographs and comments provided), as well as the artists’ current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate.
