Dear Muhammad Haris Nazim, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I asked for additional photos of the hilt of the sword and dagger regarding the material. The presented object appears to be a set of a North Indian sword and dagger which was dedicated as a court gift. The sword has a brass hilt with a horse-shaped pommel and a red glass stone inlay for the eye. The scabbard was also made out of brass with a red suede feeding. The dagger has also brass details and the material of the grip is unclear. If it were ivory of bone there would be a yellowing of the surface. There is a possibility that the grip is a later addition. Such swords with animal-shaped pommels like lion, tiger, and horse are typical for swords of the 19th century in India. The steel blade of the sword is quite undecorated and is of lower quality. This piece was made in the late 19th or more probably in the first half of the 19th century. The dagger is probably older than the sword. Such sword sets were often made as court gifts which was usually common, especially for the numerous Indian courts. This is the cause why there is a difference between the elaborated decoration in comparison to the simple blades. These pieces were made to be worn as a status symbol and not as a weapon. Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market. This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 1000 to 2000 USD. This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary. With kind regards, George
