What does this mean?

Hello Emmanuel,

I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,

Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Turkish East Azerbaijani Caucasian Soumak Rug. The piece dates back to the period from late 19th century to early 20th century, likely circa 1920. The piece was characterized by classical patterns and motifs of the Caucasian area. These motifs are specifically used for Caucasian Soumak pieces. We can easily observe ram horn, "Bereket", flower and swastica motifs. Swastica was of course used in a symbolic and archaic context. The Soumak rugs have a very unique style of knotting, they do combine the knittin of a kilim and knotting of a rug in a single body. The piece was centrally decorated by three chests, three individual medallion on the central area. The piece's central area was decorated on a bright base while the chests are decorated with tones of blue and green. The border are decorated on a pale yellow base alongside two blue smaller borders. The piece was coloured by natural dyes likely, the knot density of the piece is quite appropriate for the time and type of rug. A piece like this in good condition would catch 3000 to 4000$ at an auction, so if the piece was restored. The piece is an original antique rug. The piece is in need of restoration with various damages through the pattern, also faded.
