This is an antique, late 19th century, Victorian era, Renaissance Revival style curule form throne chair with carved grotesque face representing the North Wind of the crest rail of the back of the chair. The curule chair first emerged in the days of Ancient Rome and were used as a symbol of political and military power. The overall shape is a stylized x-form. The wood, from the images here, appears to be cherry. If in excellent, sturdy condition, this could sell for $500 - $600. Restored, perhaps up to $400 if the restoration is done right. The estimate factors in the current condition and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
