Hello Delia,

The home was of Mr. Louis Comfort Tiffany. He was the first design director at his family company, Tiffany & Co., founded by his father Charles Lewis Tiffany.Nestled beside Newark's 360 acre Branch Brook Park designed by the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted is the Forest Hill Historic district. From the 1870's to the 1920's, generations of wealthy Newarkers built hundreds of stately homes here. Among these was a three story eight bedroom house built around 1890 for Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Susan Hester, now Susan Drew, grew up in the home as a child. She currently lives in the same neighborhood just a different house. She gave me the door when she was clearing her parents things for her attic.

There is no photographic evidence unfortunately. Any photos her parents had were destroyed in a house fire where Susan lost siblings and everything they owned.

Luckily the door and a few other of her parents items had been kept at her older sisters home at the time of the fire hence why they are now in her possession.

Thanks, Andrea. The white paint on one side, which was likely a later addition, detracts from the value a bit. It also is fairly plain in its decoration - just the four panels.
