Hi Robin, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. While these glazed and fired porcelain head dolls - known in the trade simply as "China Dolls" - are old, there are quite a few on the market at the moment, with increasingly fewer collectors for them, so prices at auction remain fairly low, nearly all sell for less than $50. This is an instance where - because of its history in your family - it may have a greater "sentinmental" value than "market" value. If a China doll has the maker's name on it, it will have a higher value. If yours is marked, please let me know and I'll update this appraisal accordingly. Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: An antique Victorian China doll American or European, mid 19th Century With painted porcelain head, arms and legs, the cloth body wearing linen clothing (possibly original). 10-12 inches tall CONDITION: wear and staining to clothing commensurate to age and use. PROVENANCE: inherited $20-30* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto. ~ Delia
