Fair Market Value
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and I apologize for the delay. This is a French sword bayonet for the Model 1874 Gras infantry rifle. This bayonet was manufactured by L. Deny in Paris, likely in 1880. These rifles were in limited service during World War One, and it was likely a bring-back. This piece is in very good condition, with some degradation of the brass, but no active corrosion. The blade is in excellent shape, and shows no rust or pitting, and the lettering is still legible and crisp. Given the condition of this piece, and completed auctions of similar items, a fair market estimation is 250-275 dollars. Please reach out with any questions.
