Good morning, John, Thank you for submitting photographs for appraisal to Mearto. Your Anglo-Indian brass bound dowry or campaign chest could also be made of rosewood or teakwood, though the photograph of the underside of the lid looks very much like mahogany to me. This is 19th century, probably first half and these are usually quite popular on the market as there is less supply than demand. The condition looks good commensurate to age and it has a really nice patina. I hope this information is useful to you.
