Hello Sandra, I’m glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal request, Considering the photographs, overall pattern, painting quality, materials and the composition, I concluded that this is "Hua Ping Tang Zhi" piece, which trasnlates as "Hua Ping Hall Make". Very decorative pair of candle holder from 1975-2000 period. Hua Ping was an atelier which was active starting from early 70's to 2000's. Their pieces are usually known for their non-typical Chinese compositions and their thinly applied enamels to their pieces. Their pieces are very similar to "WL1895" ware or Hong Kong manufacturer "United Wilson". Almost all pieces with marks of this kind appears to date to the last quarter of the 20th century. Your pair's paint quality is quite average for the time. Both pieces depicts a larger man with a child figure on their sides. Your pieces were designed as center pieces probably. These were usually made for the American market, used especially for fireplace decoration. But they are also interesting pieces because normally this manufacturer does not use metal additions to their porcelain. Also their pieces are tend to be a lot smaller and designed less interestingly. Also the writing under the mark says "Not for food purposes, decorative use only". Dimensions: 14 Inches Tall and 12 Inches Wide, also 3.75 Inches Wide at the base. Condition: Very good condition, might have smaller chips to the upper flower figures. Provenance: Purchased from an auction house. Hand painted entirely in an average quality. 250-400$ for the pair.
