I inherited this sculpture from my dad , who passed away in November 2022. He lived in Nigeria in the late 1960s. He bought many African pieces, and I believe this is from Africa but am not sure.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: An antique African cast bronze ritual machete or "Ada Ogun" Possibly Yoruba culture, late 19th Century The handle in the form of a drum-playing figure with flaring conical headdress that doubles as a bell, the shaped blade with engraved decoration. 19-1/2 inches long CONDITION: this bronze machete appears to be in generally good condition with wear commensurate to age and use, including some pitting, verdigris patination and oxidation throughout.
