A two-foot statue of a woman with a towel draped at her side.

I can't find who made the statue. I think of it is made of marble. It weighs about 37 pounds.

Hello Larry, Thank you for submitting this item for an appraisal. Subject to a physical inspection, the presented object appears to be an alabaster or marble copy after a sculpture by Etienne-Maurice Falconet (French, 1716-1791), titled "Bather," which is part of the permanent collection of the Louvre in Paris: https://collections.louvre.fr/en/ark:/53355/cl010092023 It measures approximately 24 inches (60cm) so it is a reduction from the original's approximately 80cm. There appears to be some light damage in the images provided. Based on recently achieved auction results for similar items (see below), I would estimate the current fair market value between $300 and 400, though retail and asking prices may vary. https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/127375314_after-falconet-carved-alabaster-la-baigneuse https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/158892824_marble-sculpture-la-baigneuse-after-falconet https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/122863041_after-falconet-carved-alabaster-la-baigneuse If you have any questions about my valuation, please let me know in the comments below.
