Berbers are considered as a Northern African Ethnic Identity. They are also known for their hand knotted textiles, rugs and kilims. This piece has an export label which identifies it's origin, material and dimensions. Your piece adapts many differents scenes. Four different panels on each row. Most of the panels depicts an individual rug with a "Gates of Heaven" pattern. This gates of heaven patern is usually used in prayer rugs, and depicts the idea that praying leads to the heaven. Knot quality of the piece is not very high but can be considered average. As the knot count increase, the motifs are rendered in a better quality.
