This 19th century empire dresser came down to North Carolina from Virginia just after the Civil War with my great-great grandmother. My mother believes it was made on a plantation, but I have no proof of that and I have seen similar pieces online. It is 41” wide, 78” tall, 21” deep. There are 4 full drawers and three small drawers on the top. The mirror is 15 1/2” x 24”. The piece is in excellent condition.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: A Classical or Empire mahogany marble-top mirrored dresser American, possibly Southern States, circa 1830-1840 The rectangular case with rounded corners surmounted by a molded edged white marble top and a superstructure comprising of a hinged beveled mirror over three short drawers, the case fitted with four flame-mahogany veneered long drawers. 78 inches tall, 41 inches wide, 21 inches deep, with a mirror 24 by 15 1/2 inches CONDITION: appears to be in good condition, with wear commensurate to age and use.
