Dear Raymond, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal. The presented object appears to be a flintlock system pistol with a length of 15.5 inches. The parts of this pistol appear to be consistent but parts of the lock itself appear to be later overworked. There are rests of a blueing of the lock still visible. The stock was probably made from nut wood or mahogany. The hallmark of a crown and the capital letter GR indicates that this pistol was made in Great Britain. The GR stands for George Rex and means that this pistol was made under the reign of a British king with the name of George. It was made in the second half of the 18th century. This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided. A fair market estimation would be between 400 to 800 USD. This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary. With kind regards, George
