I looked up the marking on the sword and it is for a Samuel Hope, sword maker in Solingen, Germany. It is in fair condition as you will see in the pictures, but I have been unable to find another sword like this made by maker and not in the US. The sword has US on the blade and the American eagle with E. Pluribus Unum as part of the engravings. The scabbard has some ornate designs and has buildup on the top like it sat in water (think it was used in Navy on a ship) and has the bend marks where it would be from use and carrying around on your hip at the time.

The blade looks to measure around 31 inches and full length around 37 inches. The Scabbard is around 32 inches

This model of sword was replaced in 1882, so your sword dates almost certainly to between 1850 and 1882. This model of sword/sabre was also in use in the United States army until 1872. This sword was made by Samuel Hoppe in Solingen, Germany. The sword has American Symbolism U.S. and is beautifully etched with "U.S.," and "E Pluribus Unum". The Model 1850 has a shorter blade than a cavalry saber, making it well-suited to be used by officers on foot. Blade is in very-good condition with a dark patina. Good condition.
