I purchase this from a gentleman in Florida. who got it from is wife uncle who was us solider in ww2 the solider name was Many Diaz. he landed in Normandy around 1 week after D-Day. He forced thru Berlin and “liberated” this piece sometime during this period. i believe this silver but not sure. what I can find online the company made several pieces for Hitler. i gave the gentleman $550 for this piece. I dont if i overpaid or underpaid but I thought this was very neat piece of ww2 memorabilia . i am hoping you can shed some light on this piece or its value.

Dimensions

Provenance

I did A magnet test on this and it pass the test. So without the marks I believe to be this to be pure silver.

What does this mean?

Dear Robert,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please have a second look if there is a producer hallmark and a silver hallmark. German silver from this period should be hallmarked with a crown and a moon and mainly the number 800.

With kind regards,
Georg

Dear Robert,

Thank you for the additional images/ information and your patience.

The presented object appears to be a silver-plated cup with a dedication to a German soldier of the LSSAH (Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler) of the Invasion of Poland in 1939. The cup itself was made earlier at the beginning of the 20th century and shows a floral Art Nouveau decor and three fields that were left undesigned by the producer. These three fields show dedication, the SS sign, and a coat of arms with an eagles head. Especially at the coat of arms, we can see the yellowish material under the silver-plated layer.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.

With kind regards,
Georg
