Thank you again for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The item presented appears to be an oil painting of a quiet village in the continental school style. Unfortunately, the attribution to Vincent van Gogh appears to be unfounded as the age of the object does not date to his time and the style and execution is not in his hand. Based on the canvas and construction of the stretcher the work is likely done by an amateur factory or commercial artist, based in China, United States, or Mexico. Further in-person examination may determine a more appropriate origin. I did run a database search for the signature and there were no matches to a listed artist, which may support the amateur artist attribution.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable landscape and village scene oil painting dating to the mid-20th century by unknown artists. While not by van Gogh, it is still a well done painting. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
