Description

It is approx. 14" long, 7" wide blushing light tan color. Every part is jointed. You can feel metal at all joints. It sounds wrinkly when you push on it! Longer snout and limbs. little Amber eyes. Material feels like mohair but not sure.

What does this mean?

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

It is a cute teddy bear. Such vintage toys are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
It appears to be a very well kept teddy bear. The long arms, long snout and rounded ears points towards it being made by the British teddy maker Farnell. Their teddy bears have a lot of similiarities to your mothers teddy bear. It is important that the teddy is in good condition and from your description and photos it appears to be just that. The filling is most certainly some kind of sawdust and the wooden and metal parts you can feel in the joints are original too.
There are quite a few teddy collectors who would be interested in your teddy bear as well as vintage toys dealers if it were to come up for auction. And the selling price may even surprise positively as well.

The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online antique toys auction, where I believe the cute teddy bear has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to your mothers old teddy bear. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you

Thank you so much! I asked my husband if he had any attachment to the bear...although it is a sweet bear. He would like to sell it but I have no idea where to start or contact collectors or auctions. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Happy Holidays and thank you again.

Your item will be presented for several auction houses, but they tend only to be interested in items worth more than $1000. I would recommend eBay for these kinds of items because of the extended amount of buyers on the platform.

Kind regards,
