Seems to be crystal vase
20 June 2020
Description

Crystal vase with diamond cut design and colored grapes and leaves with small detailed vines on top. Scalloped ridge at top. Grapes seem to be blown as I see marks of entry and small bubbles here and there. Wasn’t sure if glass or crystal but it is 2.4 lbs and rainbow colors emanating from the diamond cut of the glass. One small grape seems like the color is scratched but I’ve run my finger over it several times and it’s impossible to scratch anything. It must be inside the grape. The vase is exquisite and I’m wondering about the value and who made this. No marks as to the artist.

Hi Carrie,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please advise on how tall this is?

Thanks!
Delia

Hello Delia,
It is about 8 1/4” tall, 6” wide at the top, 3” wide at the base.

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone found out about my vase yet? I sent the measurements and not sure if you’ve received them.

Hi Carrie,
Thanks for the dimensions; I have done an exhaustive search of various glass databases and am not finding any objects of similar form to the extent that I can make an attribution to a particular maker but I am quite certain that its an American piece and almost certainly made in the 3rd quarter of the 20th Century. Crystal has to have a specific lead content to be called crystal and without any markings it's better to call it "glass", which is a broader but less incorrect term.
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

An American blown multicolored glass vase
mid 20th Century
with scalloped rim, multicolored grape and vine clusters, over a reeded body
unmarked
8 1/4” tall, 6” wide at the top
$50-75*

Thank you so much for all the information.
I love it so much and if it was appraised higher I may consider selling but for now I will enjoy it.
This service is wonderful and I will have more pieces to submit in the future
Thank you so much for your help!

Carrie
