Bronze cross with Amida Nyorai seated on a lotus petals in meditation, showing a Nikkei (usnisa) on top of his head. The four points of the cross have a fleur-de-lis in their centers. Believed to be used by Christians, being persecuted for their faith in Japan beginning around 1639, by substituting the figure of the Buddha for Christ in the center of the cross. A similar example can be found in the Museo Oriental de Valladolid in Spain datable to the 18th Century.

Purchased at an antique shop in the old Sanno Hotel in Tokyo in 1973. No information on its provenance.
