This is a Sword that I am really curious about. We have 5 more that we will have appraised, let’s start with this one. This is a link to a shared google album
This was found during a barn demolition in Evergreen Al approx 3years ago. It was in the floor joice, along with the blade was a 1945 McArthur patriation coin. So we know it was there in the dirt for a long time. I have pictures of the coin that was found with it. The link to blade pictures follows https://photos.app.goo.gl/7RmmrYHtykVVsnyGA I have attached a photo of the coin that was found with the blade. It was placed in case for protection
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a blade of a japanese Wakizashi, or short sword 小刀. The inscription is very hard to decipher, but most likely it reads: 陸奧守吉行. "Mutsu no Kami Yoshiyuki", a 17th century swordsmith. Condition is an issue, if perfectly polished by a japanese expert polisher and with japanese papers by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai or Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Sword the value will be higher, but his might be a long way to go.
Thank you for the appraisal. If there is a Japanese Preservation Group that might be interested, feel free to contact me or leave a comment.
