Hello Delia:
That was fast. Thank you!
Can you please tell me what tips you off to the fact that these appear to be late 19th versus mid century, and English versus American?
Thank you.

Hi Rhonda,
The carving is fairly good, and the extent of restoration along the backs suggests greater age than mid 20th century (unless these are newer and suffered pretty significant trauma).
This form was not seen in this representation in America - it's got a quintessentially British flair and aura that is hard to qualify and just comes with years (and years!) of experience handling this kind of thing.

Ahhh. I see. You have much more info on your "memory card" -- encyclopaedic knowledge. I just see things -- the visceral takes over, informed by the objects my parents collected, and I purchase or not. LOL.
It is a pleasure and a priviledge to be able to access the collective knowledge of you and your colleagues.
Thank you.
