Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs examined, the subject of this appraisal is a used (postmarked) 1894 design 1 cent United States Postage Due stamp in deep claret color. The stamp is affixed to a postcard and postmarked February 2, 1907, Middletown, MD.

This particular issue was first introduced in 1894 and continued to be used through the early part of the 20th century. In catalogs, this stamp's Scott number is #J31. It is the unwatermarked paper variety.

Fair Market Value of this stamp in used average to fine condition is $12 to $15. Were the stamp unused and in fine never-hinged condition the value would be approximately $300 to $400.
