Description

3 piece set that includes sofa (love seat), a man's chair, and lady's chair. The material is velvet with the cushion intact. Measurements are as follows: Sofa height: 34inches, seat length,: 50inches, seat width: 18inches; Man's chair height: 44inches, seat length: 20inches, seat width, 18inches; Lady's chair height: 38inches, seat length: 19inches, seat width: 16 inches. We do know that the furniture had belonged to a northern Abolitionists from Boston, circa 1860's.

Provenance

The furniture came from an 1850's historic home that had been owned by Ellen Murray, one of the Abolistionists that started the Penn School (one of the oldest African American institutions in the country)
